Outside the window at Panera Bread sits a lady that I love. Her name is Gert, and she's reading from her NOOK! I'm sitting here watching folks around me, with no reticence because of age, zipping through their E-book, whether NOOK or Kindle or ipad or ipod or other electronic devices that do not strike me as a fun way to pass away the time. Not in the least. Maybe I'm just not subject to change. Some of my finest friends are, and I say, more power to them. I do not find this offensive in any way. It's just not my style.
However—all things being equal, if that is not too cliche'—I have to take a second look at this and consider subjecting myself to a little change, crossing that proverbial threshold of pain to get to the other side of my inhibitions so that my progressing friends can read my books without turning a paper page. Believe me, I'll let you know how that works out for me.
So, I printed out the instructions to e-publish my second published book, The Mississippi Boys, Yes, you can get the e-version of my book from my publisher, iUniverse, but it is not adapted to Kindle or NOOK. So, I 'm going to take the plunge. I have nothing to lose, except maybe a tad of my sanity.
Anyway, my publisher gave me the cover file. That's a huge plus. Now, all I have to do is make sure the final edit of the original manuscript before I sent it to my publisher is completely accurate. I think it is. I have to make a few file changes, which should not take more than two hours. That being done, I can begin the process of publishing. For Barnes and Noble, it's called Pub-It!
That's all I'm going to say for now. If I fail, I will tell you. If it works for me, I will shout it from the rooftop! I just hope you will all go on line and purchase that e-book. If I get good response, I have decided to publish Isaac's House for online reading, for I don't think I can wait much longer to get it out there. I depend on you, my friends to let me know your thoughts on all of this.
Here's the verse I claim today for my endeavor, not taken out of context, because God's promises are true; they are relevant; and they are not only for Israel and the king in this chapter, but for you and me—those of us who know the Lord Jesus personally, for he hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father... (Revelation 1:6a). This is the place you want to be!
Okay, back to my verse, about which I have given you background. Here it is: Thou hast given him (me, you) his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips (Psalm 21:2).
That says a lot to me. Before we even ask, God, in his infinite love and mercy sometimes answers us with a great big "YES"! He is faithful who promised.
I'll keep you updated on this little venture. There are only about twenty pages of instructions, so I will be "turning pages" for a while.
