Back to the Magnolia State!

Once again, I'll be "going home"—home to Mississippi, the land of magnolias and mocking birds and the most hospitable people in the world. I know I'm right about that.

I will see you, my friends and family, either on Saturday, October 5 at the Kimbrell-Bennett Family Reunion in Calhoun County at Ellard Baptist Church or at the big signing in Bruce, Mississippi, at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 15, hosted by the Jesse Yancy Memorial Library. Then on Tuesday, same day, at 6:00 p.m. at the Sons of Confederate Veterans Meeting in Calhoun County. Please connect with us on one of these dates, or give me a call and let's meet up. See you there!

Update on RACHEL!
I am knee-deep in research for this book. There's so much history related to the War for Southern Independence, and since my family fought this war, I have embraced the privilege of learning as much as I possibly can and passing it on. It is our heritage. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that our country is presently in a downhill spiral, and when I study the War Era of 1861-1865 and the years of Reconstruction havoc and struggle to pick up the pieces, I see an alignment with what is going on presently. When I read about the political corruption in Washington, D.C. during the Lincoln years, Reconstruction and readmission to the Union, I see and feel what my forebears must have seen and felt as they were living it.

When will we ever learn?

  1. I am glad I found your blog! Joab Clark was my great-great grandfather. T.G. Clark was my great x3 grandfather. I have just in the past few months begun genealogy research. What an interesting family history!

  2. Cindy, hello!
So glad to know we are connected and would love to get acquainted. I'm a Samuel Clark descendent. He was my great-grandfather. I love our history and cannot get enough of our Clarks. I have two other blogs connected to this one. I've been so busy writing RACHEL that I've neglected them all, but will get back to them soon. If you are on Facebook, please look me up. Dying to know where you fall in the genealogy. Before I wrote JOAB, I spoke with two of the oldest living descendants and I believe the other one lives in California. I have a feeling you know all of those. This past summer, we went to Christian County, Kentucky, and visited the Clark cemetery and Jonathan Clark's (T.G.'s great-grandfather, I believe) old home place. What an experience! Hope to hear from you again real soon. Thanks for finding me! We are cousins, you know!
